Utilities Engineer

Job Purpose
Responsible for leading a team of maintenance personnel in the execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities, overseeing maintenance operations, ensuring efficient use of resources, and ensuring machinery and equipment uptime, managing maintenance schedules, handling budgets, and working closely with other departments to meet operational goals.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead the utilities team in the operation and maintenance of all utility systems in the plant.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for all utility systems, ensuring consistent performance and minimizing downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations related to utilities operations.
  • Monitor and optimize utility consumption to reduce operational costs and improve efficiency.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure utility systems support production and operational needs.
  • Manage utility budgets, ensuring cost-effective operation and resource allocation.
  • Oversee the training and development of the utilities team, ensuring that personnel are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to utility systems, ensuring quick response to minimize production impact.
  • Keep accurate records of utilities usage, maintenance activities, and system performance.
  • Prepare reports on utilities performance, usage, and cost trends for the Mechanical Manager.
  • Participate or lead ad-hoc projects that may go beyond formal accountabilities to satisfy and respond accordingly to business needs.
  • Proactively manage Health & Safety process and procedures to achieve the company ambition of ‘0 Lost Time Injuries’ and to continuously improve the company's Health & Safety performance.
  • Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, performing trainings, monitoring compliance etc.

Job Qualifications
Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in utilities management or maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience in managing utility systems in industrial environments is a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of utility systems, including water, compressed air, steam, HVAC, and electrical distribution.
  • Ability to manage and optimize utility system performance and costs.
  • Proficiency in maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
