SUEZ CEMENT PRODUCT'S CONTRIBUTE IN EGYPT’S FIRST MONORAIL PROJECT
The New Monorail offers creative solution to address traffic issues in Cairo
The Egyptian government continues to invest in upgrading Egypt’s infrastructure bringing monorail into reality. Monorail is a mass rapid transportation method. It doesn’t only offer a safe, speedy and modern friendly transport solution to Cairo, it also helps reducing environmental footprint, through reducing energy consumption, and traffic congestion while creating more job opportunities through the lifetime of the project.
To deliver on this new project and create the future version of the New Administrative Capital, Ready Mix Beton, a subsidiary of Suez Cement Group of Companies, has selected the CEM III A products from SCGC for the ready-mixed concrete for the project. The construction of the project would take approx. 2 years. Set to start operation in the fourth quarter of 2020, the project consists of two transit lines. The 54-kilometer line is set to connect east Cairo with the New Administrative Capital, while the second 42-km line will be connecting 6 October City with Giza.
CEMIII A Cement is highly recommended when using large thickness concrete elements and mass concrete is applied because it is reducing the hydration temperature (less than 210 KJ/Kg) which reduce the crack phenomena and when the applied concrete is subjected to dual exposure to sulphates and chloride ions as happening in coastal areas and used also in sewage systems.
