Suez Cement Group of Companies becomes Egypt and Africa's first cement producer to receive Environmental Product Declaration certification
Suez Cement Group of Companies - a subsidiary of HeidelbergCement has become the first grey cement company in Egypt and Africa to obtain an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certificate in accordance with international ISO standard. The Dcarbon documents confirm the enhanced properties of products in their environmental impact.
This certification reaffirms the group’s commitment to sustainable construction while reinforcing its vision to build a better future for all of its stakeholders.
Four certificates have been issued for cement products manufactured in the Helwan plant, Kattameya plant, and Suez plant. The Environmental Product Declaration certification was awarded to Suez Cement Group of Companies products such as CEMIIIA 42.5N.

Consequently, we are pleased to have objective and trustworthy documentation demonstrating that our products meet the requirements of sustainable construction, which can assist our clients in achieving their desired sustainability goals for their projects,” says Mohamed Hegazy, the Managing Director of the Suez Cement Group of Companies.
The newly certified products play an important role in the transition of the built environment to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050 at the latest, meeting customer demand for resilient and long-lasting buildings and infrastructure built with a lower carbon footprint without compromising performance.
“With this certification, our customers will be able to make an informed choice of one of the lowest carbon footprint materials and reduce the environmental impact of emissions in their investments,” Hegazy added.
The group’s four products that received the Environmental Product Declaration Certification have a CO2 reduction of up to 35% versus traditional cements.
