Suez Cement receives ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety management systems

In continuation of its responsibility towards safety and health of employees and surrounding communities, Suez Cement Group of Companies (SCGC) announced it succeeded to receive ISO 45001 Certification.

This success is attributed to the Group’s efforts to develop its performance over the past years, which extend to cover the occupational health and safety management in the company. Many updates were introduced to all activities, buildings and new operating systems of the company, where they were put under testing and monitoring in order to ensure conformity with the requirements of ISO 45001.

SCGC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jose Maria Magrina said he is delighted to receive this international recognition.

“We are very proud to receive this certification as the Group has devoted all efforts and energies to pass the tests. Obtaining ISO 45001 sets strict procedures in all matters related to safety of workers and work environment. This certification will help improve performance of occupational health and safety in the Group”, Magrina said.

“Workers in cement industry face many work-related risks, the matter which necessitates adopting strict safety systems to maintain their safety as well as safety of the public. Therefore, SCGC prioritized compliance with terms of the occupational health and safety certifications”, Magrina stressed.

In the same context, Head of SCGC Occupational Health and Safety Sector Mohamed Sho’ala said that the company’s receipt of ISO 45001 certificate stresses the company’s continuation in strict monitoring of occupational health and safety systems as well as constant development in this field with the utilization of most advanced technology to maintain the occupational health and safety.

All SCGC plants are ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified. They are also subject to comprehensive audits by the competent bodies to ensure full compliance with the local and international standards.
