Minister of Investment paid a visit to El Minya Cement Plant

On the occasion of the Investments Forum that took place in El Minya on 21-22 of November 2008 to promote and facilitate investments in Upper Egypt, the Minister of Investment, H.E. Mahmoud Mohieldin, accompanied by the Governor of El Minya, H.E. Ahmed Diaa El Din, and by a delegation of Egyptian investors made a visit to El Minya Cement Plant owned by Helwan Cement Company.  

During his visit, Minister Mohieldin was received by the plant manager, Eng. Ahmed El Sawy, and all the managers and workers of the plant. The Minister acknowledged El Minya Cement Plant as an important source of employment for El Minya governorate and he complemented the plant on its success in implementing a safety and environment policies as well as promoting many development projects aiming at improving the living conditions of the surrounding community and creating new job opportunities.

El Minya plant was established in 1991. The plant is specialized in the production of white cement and it is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified.

Helwan Cement Company is a subsidiary of Suez Cement Company. Helwan Cement was established in 1929 and was the second cement producer to enter the market. Today, the company is home to nearly 2.000 employees and manufactures grey and white cement in two plant locations- Helwan and El Minya. The Helwan and El Minya plants have a combined capacity of 4.8 million tons per year and both plant facilities are ISO 9002 and ISO140001 certified.
