Misr El-Kheir and Suez Cement Company launch emergency department in Helwan hospital

Cairo, February 18, 2016. Misr El-Kheir Foundation, in cooperation with Helwan Cement and Tourah Cement, subsidiaries of Suez Cement Group of Companies (SCGC), opened today (Thursday) the emergency department in Helwan Public Hospital after renovating the department's infrastructure.
Misr El-Kheir Foundation said that the project aims at establishing the institutionalized system through developing the emergency department in Helwan Public Hospital, renovating the infrastructure, providing it with the needed hygiene and medical equipments while providing the hospital with a uniform for nurses operating in the hospital.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Dr. Nanes Adel, the Advisor to the Health Minister for Hospitals Development Affairs, Dr. Hossam El-Khateeb, the Health Ministry First Undersecretary, Dr. Nagwa Wenget, the Head of the Health Sector in Misr El-Kheir Foundation, Gehan Abdel-Rahman on behalf of Cairo Governor Gala El-Saeed and Bruno Carre, SCGC's Chief Executive Officer.
Dr. Hossam El-Khateeb, the Health Ministry First Undersecretary said that Helwan Public Hospital serves 2 million patients and receives nearly 2000 patients per day. He added that the reception department serves more than 70 thousand patients annually, noting the hospital serves several roads including El-Kraimat Road, which sees the highest number of accidents and victims.
El-Khateeb pointed out that cooperation between the civil society and Ministry of Health leads to the introduction of better services. He explained that the Health Ministry exerts strenuous efforts on the level of governorates. He added that the ministry has renovated three hospitals in Cairo recently with EGP 1 billion costs through inance from the State and partnership with the civil society.
Dr. El-Khateeb stressed that the health ministry is keen on providing good services for citizens, adding that it spares no effort to achieve this end.
Head of the Health Sector in Misr El-Kheir Foundation Dr. Nagwa said that the foundation, Ministry of Health and Suez Cement Company are celebrating not only the renovation of the emergency department in Helwan Public Hospital, but also the successful partnership among the private sector, which is represented in Suez Cement Company, the government, which is represented in the Ministry of Health and the civil society sector, which is represented in Misr El-Kheir Foundation. She added that the foundations decided to launch renovation of the emergency department in Helwan Public Hospital out of realization of its social responsibility, saying that the development covers not only the buildings, but also the human cadres.
Dr. Nagwa explained that the emergency department serves the largest network of roads and receive victims of accidents on Utostrade/Cornich El-Maadi Road. She made clear that they support the hospital in order to introduce a good medical service for patients, especially the limited-income brackets, which comes within the framework of Misr El-Kheir Foundation's activity in several fields including the health sector to develop the medical system.
Bruno Carre, SCGC's Chief Executive Officer said that renovation of the emergency department in Helwan Public Hospital is the first cooperation between Suez Cement and Misr El-Kheir Foundation, which will be followed by a group of renovations in the hospital in view of the large number of patients the hospital is serving. He added that the Company has seriously considered renovation of the emergency department not only for the people of Helwan, but due to the high pressure on the hospital by the company's employees, which is one of the main reasons behind the company's participation in the introduction of this service.
Carre noted that the service introduced by the company in cooperation with Misr El-Kheir Foundation is not limited to renovation of the emergency department, but it included organizing training for nurses and providing the hospital's departments with the medical equipment. He explained that the company pays attention to the development, calling on the manager of the hospital to keep development of work and performance in the hospital.
Mr. Carre thanked Misr El-Kheir Foundation, hoping that renovation of the emergency department in Helwan Public Hospital is a beginning for a larger cooperation with the foundation.
During the speech delivered on his behalf by the Deputy Cairo Governor for the South Region Gehan Abdel-Rahman, Cairo Governor Galal El-Saeed thanked workers of Suez Cement Company because they are owners of the real idea of renovation of the emergency department. He added that they did not ask establishment of parks or clubs, but they demanded renovation of the hospital for the sake of patients.
For his part, the Manager of Helwan Public Hospital Dr. Ahmad El-Saadany said that this moment is a result of work which continued for two years. He added that Ministry of Health has agreed with Misr El-Kheir Foundation on the renovation of the hospital starting by the emergency department.
El-Saadany explained that Misr El-Kheir Foundation has fulfilled its promise and renovated the department, organized training for nurses and provided the hospital with all needed equipment.
