Operations Section Head

Roles and Responsibilities:

A. Commissioning and PGT Phase

  • Project works quality inspection and assure quality plans and standard.
  • Statutory compliance especially compliance of authority’s regulations and quality standards, safety, and Environment Regulation.
  • Prepare preliminary and final project punch list.
  • Participating in pre-commissioning activities like Refractory dry out, Alkali boils out.
  • Participating in preparation of boilers pre/post commissioning protocols.
  • Participate in the commissioning, performance tests of major equipment related to Boiler, Turbine, Condenser, and Cooling tower, DM Plant etc.
  • Carrying out post alkali boil out activities for (Acid) chemical cleaning &passivation.
  • Steam blowing and assuring for acceptance of target plate.
  • Identifying the deviation of the major equipment’s performance and comparing to contractual performance, analysis these deviations and provide possible corrective actions. Deviation of the power, water, coal & steam consumption is analyzed for meeting the best achieved parameters.
  • Daily and weekly reporting to the commissioning manager.
  • Attend the Performance Guarantee Test and assure fulfilling all the contractual PGT parameters and values.

B. Plant Operations

  • Assure the Operation and Maintenance safety requirements.
  • Planning, scheduling, and execution of the preventive maintenance activity.
  • Planning, scheduling, and execution of the Shut Down activity.
  • Participate the stoppages analysis and related RCFAs.
  • Inspection of refractory, drum internals, buck stays, spring supports& U beams alignment.
  • Providing training to the workers for the new pieces of equipment.
  • Safety valve floating in the main steam piping, Re-heater & Steam drum as per the rating.
  • Measurement of boiler thermal expansion at various zones and ensuring the same is as per the designed values. Conducting reliability run test as per contract.
  • Data logging of Boiler, turbine and BOP’s and evaluating the gaps in design & operating parameters and identifying the scope of improvement.
  • Identifying the deviation of the best performance parameters of major equipment’s and comparing of the same on day basis. Deviation of the power, water, coal & steam consumption is analyzed for meeting the best achieved parameters.
  • Conducting heat and mass balance in waste heat recovery boilers and steam turbines upon needed.
  • Reliability improvement by monitoring of Coal, ash, water, steam, Turbine oil, thickness mapping of pressure parts, condition monitoring of major equipment’s, preventive maintenance/Lubrication, boiler expansion readings, shut down jobs planning with materials, manpower, services availability & completion of the same within stipulated time.
  • Boiler efficiency improvements
  • Conducting energy audit and its report submission
  • Providing Energy saving suggestions.
  • Proactively manage Health & Safety process and procedures to achieve the company ambition of ‘0 Lost Time Injuries’ and to continuously improve the company's Health & Safety performance.
  • Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, performing trainings, monitoring compliance etc.

Job Qualifications:
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering

Experience:

  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in engineering, installation and operation of power plants/process plants is mandatory. 


Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of safety laws and regulation
  • Fluency in English
