Mechanical Section Head

Job Purpose 
Responsible for overseeing the maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment, ensures that maintenance operations run smoothly, schedules are followed, and machinery is kept in optimal working condition.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the maintenance of mechanical systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Develop, implement, and manage maintenance schedules for mechanical equipment.
  • Supervise and provide leadership to the maintenance team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and on time.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate with the Mechanical Manager to align maintenance activities with production schedules.
  • Monitor the performance of mechanical systems and recommend upgrades or replacements as needed.
  • Review maintenance reports, identify trends, and implement corrective actions as required.
  • Ensure proper inventory management of spare parts and tools used for mechanical maintenance.
  • Train and develop maintenance staff to improve their technical skills and ensure high performance.
  • Lead troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts for complex mechanical issues.
  • Manage the department’s budget and ensure maintenance activities are cost-effective.
  • Prepare and submit regular maintenance performance reports to the Mechanical Manager.
  • Promote and enforce a culture of safety and reliability within the maintenance team.
  • Collaborate with other departments to optimize plant operations and maintenance activities. Participate or lead ad-hoc projects that may go beyond formal accountabilities to satisfy and respond accordingly to business needs.
  • Proactively manage Health & Safety processes and procedures to achieve the company ambition of ‘0 Lost Time Injuries’ and to continuously improve the company's Health & Safety performance.
  • Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures.
    including implementation of Group guidelines, performing trainings, monitoring compliance etc. 

Job Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. (cement industry experience has priority)
