Contracts Section Head
Job Purpose
Responsible for coordinating contract negotiation and execution, mitigating contract risks, overseeing the company’s contracts, ensuring they are well-drafted, compliant with relevant laws and regulations, aligned with the company's strategic goals, and that all contractual obligations are met in a timely and efficient manner.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and execution of contracts, ensuring all terms and conditions are clearly defined, fair, and in the best interest of the company.
- Ensure that all contracts comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and internal company requirements. Regularly monitor and review contract performance to ensure compliance and address any deviations.
- Identify potential risks within contracts and take proactive steps to mitigate them. Collaborate with legal and other departments to resolve any contract-related disputes or issues.
- Lead and manage the contracts team, providing direction, guidance, and support. Ensure the team is adequately trained and has the resources to efficiently execute their duties.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including legal, procurement, finance, and other departments, to ensure smooth contract execution and effective communication.
- Analyze and evaluate the performance of contracts, providing recommendations for improvements or adjustments to terms, timelines, and obligations where necessary.
- Ensure all contracts adhere to local and international regulations, industry standards, and company policies. Coordinate with the legal department to ensure that contracts are legally sound.
- Ensure proper documentation of all contracts, amendments, and related correspondence. Maintain a well-organized filing system for easy access to contract documents.
- Act as the point of contact for any contract-related disputes or claims. Work with legal teams to resolve issues quickly and amicably, protecting the company's interests.
- Prepare regular reports on contract statuses, key performance indicators (KPIs), and any issues that may require attention. Provide updates to senior management and other relevant stakeholders.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to the contract management process, ensuring greater efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with business objectives.
- Oversee contracts with suppliers, vendors, and third-party service providers. Ensure all contractual obligations are met and maintain strong, collaborative relationships.
- Participate or lead ad-hoc projects that may go beyond formal accountabilities to satisfy and respond accordingly to business needs
- Proactively manage Health & Safety process and procedures to achieve the company ambition of ‘0 Lost Time Injuries’ and to continuously improve the company's Health & Safety performance.
- Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of HC Group guidelines, performing trainings, monitoring compliance etc.
Job Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in law or any equivalent.
- Master’s or professional certification in Contract Management or related fields (preferred).
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in contract management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Experience in drafting and negotiating contracts, preferably in an industrial or corporate environment.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of contract law, compliance requirements, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in contract management software and documentation systems.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
