Senior Mechanical Engineer
Job Purpose
Control and support the smooth operation and efficiency of area of responsibility through the implementation and coordination of all mechanical maintenance activities and processes to achieve optimum operational plan performance within agreed cost targets and time limits.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain mechanical systems and equipment.
- Conduct assessments and troubleshooting of plant machinery.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules and improvements.
- Provide technical support to the maintenance team.
- Prepare technical reports and maintenance logs.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations.
- Analyze performance data and recommend improvements.
- Assist in the procurement of mechanical parts and materials.
- Supervise installations of new mechanical systems and ensure integration with existing ones.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Evaluate system failures and initiate corrective actions.
- Manage mechanical documentation, including schematics and manuals.
- Prepare detailed engineering calculations and feasibility studies.
- Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers.
- Participate in root cause analysis to resolve mechanical issues.
- Conducts mechanical maintenance activities on all plant equipment, contributing to the attainment of monthly and annual production targets and assisting in trouble shooting and improvement of plant reliability.
- Performs all preventive mechanical maintenance activities, including major shutdowns, so that established standards of quality production and reliability are met, within agreed cost parameters.
- Provides mechanical engineering assistance to plant personnel across manufacturing process, to diffuse technical knowledge and expertise for running the machinery more optimally, minimizing technical troubles and improving the plant performance towards world class levels.
- Monitors and evaluates the efficiency of the maintenance activities providing analytical reporting of results, including services from external suppliers, focusing on identifying areas for improvement, as well as identifying the most suitable suppliers of spare parts and services that meet company standards.
- Contributes to the definition of spare parts list and determination of spare parts ordering and stock levels, to ensure maintenance of plant operational efficiency, reviewing such levels periodically.
- Reviews the spare parts received from suppliers, securing that meet company standards and operational needs.
- Reviews and evaluates, in cooperation with the production management, the operating conditions of the plant, identifying and preventing malfunctions, as well as providing solutions for improvement.
- Develops and maintains regular workplace inspections and reporting procedures.
- Assesses and controls risks as they are identified, encourage staff to take an active role in the development of safe working practices.
- Ensures that all HSE incidents are reported on the appropriate form immediately and contributes to its investigations and guarantee the proper preventive actions are implemented and learning shared.
- Participate or lead ad-hoc projects that may go beyond formal accountabilities to satisfy and respond accordingly to business needs.
- Proactively manage Health & Safety process and procedures to achieve the company ambition of ‘0 Lost Time Injuries’ and to continuously improve the company's Health & Safety performance.
- Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, performing trainings, monitoring compliance etc.
Job Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
Experience
- Minimum 4-7 years of experience in the same field – cement industry
Technical Skills
- In-depth knowledge of maintenance management methods of predictive inspection tools (SAP & AutoCAD).
- Very good knowledge of cement products and cement production processes.
- Knowledge of safety laws and regulation.
- Proficient in MS Office
