Health and Safety Engineer

Job Purpose
Responsible for applying engineering principles to enhance safety practices at the plant. The role includes conducting hazard analyses, designing safety systems, and ensuring that operations comply with regulatory safety standards.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conduct safety audits and inspections of plant processes and equipment.
  • Identify potential hazards and recommend engineering controls to mitigate risks.
  • Implement and monitor the effectiveness of safety systems and processes.
  • Assist in the development and review of safety policies and procedures.
  • Lead investigations of incidents and recommend engineering solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Perform risk assessments and safety analysis for plant processes and machinery.
  • Provide technical support to the safety team and other departments on safety-related matters.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and codes.
  • Review plant safety records and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with management and maintenance teams to improve plant safety.
  • Develop and deliver safety training for staff on safety systems and engineering controls.
  • Monitor and ensure the safe operation of machinery, equipment, and materials.
  • Provide engineering input on safety design changes or upgrades to plant infrastructure.
  • Ensure proper documentation of safety protocols and incident investigations.
  • Stay updated on new safety technologies and best practices in the industry.
  • Participate or lead ad-hoc projects that may go beyond formal accountabilities to satisfy and respond accordingly to business needs.      
  • Proactively manage Health & Safety process and procedures to achieve the company ambition of ‘0 Lost Time Injuries’ and to continuously improve the company's Health & Safety performance.
  • Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, performing trainings, monitoring compliance etc.

Job Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in safety engineering or a similar role in manufacturing.

Technical Skills

  • Skilled in industrial safety regulations and standards.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments and safety audits.
  • Proficiency in safety engineering software tools and techniques.
