Health and Safety Manager

Job Purpose 
Responsible for overseeing safety operations in the plant, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, promoting a safety-first culture, and mitigating risks to safeguard employees and the environment, leading a team of safety professionals and driving continuous safety improvements.

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Develop and enforce safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Oversee the training of employees and contractors on safety practices and protocols.
  • Manage the safety team, including Safety Engineers, Safety Supervisors, and Safety Section Heads.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards and local regulations.
  • Monitor plant operations and work processes to identify potential safety risks.
  • Review and approve safety programs, including emergency response plans.
  • Lead safety meetings and promote safety awareness among all staff.
  • Report safety performance and compliance metrics to upper management.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement control measures.
  • Support and guide the safety team in daily activities and challenges.
  • Ensure proper management of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety resources.
  • Maintain safety documentation and records in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure regular drills and emergency preparedness for all employees.
  • Participate or lead ad-hoc projects that may go beyond formal accountabilities to satisfy and respond accordingly to business needs.      
  • Proactively manage Health & Safety process and procedures to achieve the company ambition of ‘0 Lost Time Injuries’ and to continuously improve the company's Health & Safety performance.
  • Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, performing trainings, monitoring compliance etc.

Job Qualifications
Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Environmental Health, or related field.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in safety management, with at least 2 years in a leadership position.

Technical Skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of OHS regulations and standards.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
