Legal Manager

Job Overview
Ensure proper flow of work and business needs within the applicable laws, rules and regulations, policies and guidelines to protect the interest of the company, by taking all need measures to avoid and prevent liabilities on the company, its employees, and managers

Key Responsibilities

  • Defend, prepare, and attend before all types of courts, initiate and pursue legal proceedings as required by the company by drafting defenses, submissions and other pleadings either filed by or against the company.
  • Advise on corporate related matters, including commercial and labor issues Liaise with and assist external counsel as the case may require to support the company and make recommendations to management as necessary.
  • Research and prepare legal opinions on various civil, commercial and corporate matters to support company’s commercial development and protection of interest in compliance with legislation and company’s decisions and rules
  • Monitor and follow up on maintaining a database of the status of all court cases matters involving the company.
  • Draft, amend, review and/ or recommend modifications for any type of commitments by or against the company.
  • Evaluate and follow up all company’s procedures, policies and activities to identify compliance with legislation, initiating the development of new procedures or policies or/and adjust changes to the existing ones, securing their compliance with legislation
  • Maintain the company’s assets and documentation, by all possible means, including electronic and physical keeping.
  • Supervise the legal team working with him/her by monitoring, managing and supporting them directly and indirectly, including reviewing and attesting all related work done before releasing to third parties work done before releasing to third parties.
  • Attend, handle, prepare and supervise all corporate secretarial matters undertake all necessary procedures reflect such with the relevant authorities…. including ledgers, commercial registry, public notary…etc. to ensure the proper flow of related aspects.
  • Participate or lead ad-hoc projects that may go beyond formal accountabilities to satisfy and respond accordingly to business needs      
  • Proactively manage Health & Safety process and procedures to achieve the company ambition of ‘0 Lost Time Injuries’ and to continuously improve the company's Health & Safety performance
  • Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, performing trainings, monitoring compliance etc.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in law or any equivalent.
  • MBA in an asset. Experience.
  • Minimum 10+ years professional experience in the field of corporate, legal offices and labor law.
  • 3 years in a similar role.

Technical

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures.
  • Proven experience as a Compliance counsel in business.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
