Mechanical Engineer

Job Purpose
Responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining mechanical systems and equipment used in plant operations, ensures the efficient and safe operation of machinery, supports maintenance activities, and drives engineering improvements across mechanical systems.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design, analyse, and optimize mechanical systems and equipment used in plant operations.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability and performance.
  • Conduct failure analysis and troubleshooting for mechanical issues within the plant.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate mechanical systems with plant processes.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines in mechanical design and operation.
  • Prepare detailed reports, drawings, and specifications for mechanical systems.
  • Provide technical support to the maintenance team for mechanical repairs and improvements.
  • Monitor equipment performance, conduct audits, and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  • Assist in managing mechanical-related projects, including installation, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Work with procurement to select appropriate materials, equipment, and tools for mechanical systems.
  • Participate in risk assessments and contribute to health and safety procedures for mechanical systems.
  • Train and support plant personnel on the safe operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
  • Monitor trends in mechanical technology and suggest innovations to improve plant performance.
  • Ensure that mechanical operations comply with environmental sustainability practices.
  • Participate or lead ad-hoc projects that may go beyond formal accountabilities to satisfy and respond accordingly to business needs.
  • Proactively manage Health & Safety processes and procedures to achieve the company ambition of ‘0 Lost Time Injuries’ and to continuously improve the company's Health & Safety performance.
  • Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, performing trainings, monitoring compliance etc.

Job Qualifications
Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and CAD software.
  • Proficiency in equipment design, maintenance, and optimization.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
