Cairo, Egypt, August 30, 2026 — Heidelberg Materials Egypt has successfully concluded its 2026 Summer Internship Program, welcoming 110 university students and recent graduates for an intensive two-week experience designed to bridge academic knowledge with real-world industry practice.

Spanning more than 10 specialized functional areas, the program gave participants hands-on exposure to the company’s business and industrial operations, while developing their technical knowledge, professional skills and understanding of the building materials industry.

“At Heidelberg Materials Egypt, investing in youth is at the heart of our commitment to sustainable growth and the development of our people. By giving young talent the opportunity to learn directly from our experts and experience our operations first-hand, we aim to prepare the next generation of professionals to contribute to Egypt’s industrial development and build a more sustainable future,” said Marian Samir, Human Resources Director, Heidelberg Materials Egypt.

Bridging Academia and Industry

The 2026 program was structured around two main tracks, providing exposure to both corporate and industrial functions. The Business Track covered Human Resources, Finance, Procurement and Supply Chain, Commercial functions, Legal & Compliance, and Information Technology, while the Technical & Operational Track offered engineering and technical students hands-on experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Automation, Production and Quality Assurance.

Throughout the program, interns worked alongside experienced professionals, site engineers and senior leaders. Strong emphasis was placed on collaboration and practical learning, with participants engaging in structured sessions, on-site experiences, team assignments and activities designed to develop both technical capabilities and essential workplace skills.

“It was a completely new experience for me. I had the opportunity to see and experience things I had never encountered before, and I learned so much throughout the program. Between the lectures and the hands-on guidance from my mentors, I gained valuable knowledge and a much better understanding of the industry,” said Lojain Mohamed Tawfik, a Technical Track intern specializing in Mechanical Engineering.

“I gained tremendous experience and hands-on exposure to the business. Our mentors were incredibly supportive and genuinely committed to making our learning experience as valuable as possible. Their dedication is something I believe truly sets Heidelberg Materials Egypt apart,” added Omar Tarek, a Business Track intern specializing in Sales.

Through initiatives such as the Summer Internship Program, Heidelberg Materials Egypt continues to invest in young talent, strengthen the connection between academia and industry, and contribute to building a skilled workforce equipped to support the future of Egypt’s industrial sector.
