Health & Safety Manager

Job Overview 
Manage and enhance the Health and Safety management system and build a strong H&S Culture through the organization to ensure the alignment of the company’s Health and Safety strategy with all the stakeholders by providing safe working conditions. 

Key Responbilties

  • Provide Health & Safety (H&S) expertise and support to the line management regrading (e.g., results of risk assessments, root cause analysis, audits, Safety precautions for all equipment) to ensure safety compliance. 
  • Liaise with regulatory Health & Safety authorities to ensure Complying with all H&S laws and regulations. 
  • Support proper implementation of Suez Cement Group / Heidelberg Cement safety strategy to translate the strategic vision into improvement plans.
  • Communicate and implement the group and country Health and Safety procedures with the rest of H&S team to proper implementation of H&S policies.
  • Maintain, measure, and develop Health & Safety management system, awareness campaigns to promote safe workplace. 
  • Participate in country and plant Health & Safety committees to ensure that our procedures are up to date. 
  • Ensure that all the supervisors have been adequately trained to effectively fulfil their safety responsibilities. 
  • Follow up & audit safety management system implementation (such as ISO 45001) to ensure Complying with all applicable laws and regulations. 
  • Unify, prepare & update all safety forms checklist of the group to ensure that all policies and procedures are followed.
  • Ensure regular benchmark and implementation of good practices from other sites or companies. 
  • Review H&S reporting system and recordkeeping procedures to analyze safety statistics, reports and risk assessments to improve H&S performance in all plants. 
  • Assess accidents/ incidents root cause analysis to take preventive measures.
  • Participate and/ or lead safety audits on sites / entities as per the group strategy to follow up on the area owner to ensure any unsafe condition is corrected.
  • Evaluate contractor’s pre-qualification & their compliances with group safety procedures and standards to support Health & Safety requirements by having 0 lost time injuries.
  • Review safety training programs to enhance safety knowledge and awareness.
  • Ensure that the plant PPE needs & consumption to all organization, contractors and external visitors to assure that visitors and contractors are properly informed about site hazards and regulations
  • Lead, develop and motivate areas H&S team as direct superior to enhance the level off accuracy in all the Health & safety procedures.
  • Participate in all safety and plant meetings (daily meeting, safety committee, group coordination, shutdown, project preparations ….)
  • Participate or lead ad-hoc projects that may go beyond formal accountabilities to satisfy and respond accordingly to business needs. 
  • Proactively manage Health & Safety process and procedures to achieve the company ambition of ‘0 Lost Time Injuries’ and to continuously improve the company's Health & Safety performance 
  • Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, performing trainings, monitoring compliance etc.

Qualifications 

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred Engineering, Chemistry or any equivalent 
  • Master’s degree or acknowledged certificates in occupational safety (preferred).

Experience

  • Minimum 5-7 years professional experience in the field of Health & Safety in a heavy industry. 

Technical Skills

  • Experience within the building material industry (preferred).
  • Experience in management systems and continuous improvement cycle: ISO 4500 (preferred)
  • Certificate in occupational Health & Safety (preferred)
  • Certificate in Health & Safety specialist 
  • Proficient in MS Office.
