Safety Senior Specialist

Job Purpose
Ensure that all the safety policies and procedures are effectively met and in compliance with internal and external regulations. Communicates with all the area managers in order to ensure that all safety precautions and trainings are up to date and compatible with the current working conditions.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the actual implementation of all the company’s Health & Safety (H&S) procedures, policies, and systems with the H&S Manager to comply with legislation and company regulations.
  • Revise and report to the Health & Safety Manager all the area’s H&S operations, providing the necessary data and H&S status to support the management decision making to create a safer work environment.
  • Supervise all operations’ development process and implementation that are based from area reports and necessary actions to minimize level of accidents occurrence.
  • Ensure the implementations of H&S training plans, in communication with the HR department and all safety equipment’s contractors to increase the employees’ awareness concerning the risks and hazards related to their jobs.
  • Follow up that all the supervisors have been adequately trained to effectively fulfil their safety responsibilities.
  • Supervise and investigates all the necessary procedures that must occur in the case of accidents that occur in the relevant area, to avoid any further accidents and to take the correct preventive actions.
  • Communicate all safety standards and procedures to areas managers to ensure the compliance with the company’s parameters.
  • Participate in the areas’ internal and external audit to ensure the compliance with the company’s procedures and government regulations.
  • Communicate actively with all the management levels of the relative area (e.g. safety talks) to provide all the safety technical knowledge.
  • Participate or lead in auditing new/old equipment to ensure that preventive measures and effective safeguards are used and developed.
  • Lead, develop and motivate areas H&S team as direct superior to enhance the level off accuracy in all the Health & safety procedures.
  • Supervise and support all area / group initiatives, H&S programs, and awareness campaigns, to maintain the safe working conditions.
  • Supervise plant PPE needs & consumption to all organization, contractors, and external visitors to assure that visitors and contractors are properly informed about site hazards and regulations
  • Maintain and report all, reports, statistics, and recordkeeping procedures regarding H&S according to internal and external requirements for the H&S Manager to analyze and take the accurate safety precautions.
  • Supervise and ensure that the basic safety procedures and standards of contractors are met & their compliances with group to ensure the quality of any service that is received.
  • Supervise and maintain all risk assessments and accidents/ incidents root cause analysis to take preventive measures that maintains safe working conditions.
  • Participate or lead ad-hoc projects that may go beyond formal accountabilities to satisfy and respond accordingly to business needs.
  • Proactively manage Health & Safety process and procedures to achieve the company ambition of ‘0 Lost Time Injuries’ and to continuously improve the company's Health & Safety performance
  • Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, performing trainings, monitoring compliance etc.
     

Job Qualifications
Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred Engineering, Chemistry or any equivalent

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years professional experience in the field of Health & Safety in a heavy industry, construction (preferably cement industry experience)

Technical Skills

  • Required: OSHA general & Safety specialist
  • Preferred: NEBOSH/ IOSH  
  • Proficient in MS Office, Google software.
