Kiln Operator

Job Purpose:
Ensure the efficient operation of the plant according to schedule by supporting all personnel in their work by identifying issues of consideration to support the plant to meet deadlines and goals in terms of product volume, quality and cost.  

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Control all major process lines within the cement manufacturing operation including equipment commissioning by starting up, shutdowns, and emergency condition management as per established SOP’s in order to meet production requirements.
  • Monitor all plant process lines using all available tools to ensure employee safety, stable equipment operation, equipment integrity within prescribe design limitations, operating targets, and environmental regulations.
  • Control product quality at all stages of the cement manufacturing process by having a clear understanding of the targets, and the levers that are used to control the targets, along with the appropriate decision-making process based on the impact of each lever. 
  • Maintain awareness of the automation system control strategy and makes recommendations for continuous improvement to maintain plant operational efficiency.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the plant organization in both verbal and written format to ensure good communication, cooperation and information transfer between staff.
  • Maintain appropriate logbook for proper communication, shift hand over & take over and record purpose to ensure the timely and quality completion of projects and minimize downtime.
  • Implement methods to ensure smooth production operation of the plant and the fine tuning of the equipment.
  • Participate or lead ad-hoc projects that may go beyond formal accountabilities to satisfy and respond accordingly to business needs.      
  • Proactively manage Health & Safety process and procedures to achieve the company ambition of ‘0 Lost Time Injuries’ and to continuously improve the company's Health & Safety performance. 
  • Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, performing trainings, monitoring compliance etc.

Job Qualifications:
Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in science / or engineering.

Experience: 

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in kiln CCR operation is a must

Technical Skills:

  • Good knowledge of developing measurements on production activities
  • Good technical knowledge of the cement product life cycle
  • Knowledge of shift schedule development and implementation
  • Knowledge of safety laws and regulation
  • Proficient in MS Office
